At the Poseidon clinic, we use the FUE-method when performing hair transplants. FUE is short for ‘Follicular Unit Extraction’. This treatment is both extremely effective and not least very gentle, which in a short time has made it one of the most popular treatment options in the world when it comes to hair transplants.
At the Poseidon Clinic, we use the FUE-method for all our treatments, which include:
- Hair transplants
- Hairline transplants
- Beard transplants
- Eyebrow transplants
How does the FUE technique work?
What makes the FUE method unique it that with the treatment, each hair is transported rather than whole hair stripes, as is the case with a number of other treatment options such as the Strip Surgery Extraction.
When conducting a FUE treatment the surgeon use microsurgery. Here specially made tools are used to extract small hair follicle groups which are then transplanted to the bald or thin-haired areas of the head.
The hair follicle groups are taken from the neck and the sides of the head, also called donor areas, where there is more and stronger hair. By doing this you can make sure that you cannot see that hairs from the donor areas have been transplanted to other parts of the head.
This particular approach means that FUE does not cause scarring like other treatment techniques and therefore the hair transplant produces a natural result where it is not apparent that the hair has been transplanted.
This new technique also prevents our customers from having to be sewn with stitches since the skin heals extremely quickly. With the FUE technique, we can therefore ensure the maximum benefit of the treatment for our customers â not only today, but also in the future.
How many treatments does it take to produce a satisfactory result?
Once the selected hair follicle groups have been transplanted, they will typically grow as they should.
This happens as they are not under the influence of DHT hormones, which are the cause of bald spots and baldness in men. The result is therefore permanent and ensures a maximum hair density.
However, it is hard to say how many hairs it is needed to transplant in order to achieve a satisfactory result. There are several factors that affect the final number of treatments including:
- The patient hair type
- Color differences between the hair and the scalp of a person
- The aggressiveness of the hair loss
Â
How long before the lasting treatment result is seen?
All the transplanted strands of hair may fall off during the first few weeks after the hair transplant. These hairs then grow out again after 2-3 months. The lasting treatment result can be seen after about 8-12 months.
Does the FUE technique cause pain?
The short answer is no. The procedure itself is carried out with the use of local anesthetics, and as the treatment is extremely gentle, it will be virtually painless. When the local anesthetic is injected, only minor discomfort can be felt. In addition, after treatment, minor tightening may occur in the neck. However, this will not cause any inconvenience.
Who performs the treatment?
At the Poseidon clinic, the hair transplant itself is performed by Dr. Minogiannis Polychronis.
Dr. Minogiannis Polychronis has many years of experience with hair transplants and is one of the country’s leading experts in FUE treatments. Dr. Minogiannis Polychronis is therefore particularly experienced in utilizing the precision capabilities of the instruments, enabling him to reconstruct everything from hair whrols to hair hair lines. His many years of expertise is your guarantee of a beautiful and natural result. With the use of less skilled surgeons, we often see that there is a need for a follow-up transplant to get a satisfactory result.
Our specialists are of course approved by the Danish Health Authority.
What other hair transplant methods are available?
The reason we use the FUE method at the Poseidon Clinic is that it is both one of the most effective and not least gentle treatments, which do not cause any long-lasting or negative side effects. Most hair clinics in Denmark today use the FUE method for this very reason.
But there are also a wide range of other treatment techniques. Many of these are particularly used abroad. Here the price is sometimes lower than at home, but the quality often also significantly lower. You can read more about some of these other treatment methods on this page.
